A personal update / The Mayo Clinic / Photography Awards / What I Wish I Knew About Work / Photo editor in your browser
Wow. It has been 6 weeks since I published an edition of this newsletter. 6 weeks on the calendar, but in my mind, it feels like 3 months.
To bring you all up to speed, our family had an emergency medical situation. Thankfully, everything is ok, and recovery is going well. When you get that kind of news though, life turns on a dime and priorities get realigned, like it or not.
Thank you to so many of you who reached out and supported us. In a time that can feel incredibly scary and lonely, we felt the prayers and support of so many folks. That meant the world.
Thankfully, we are back home and enjoying a sense of normalcy and routine. It’s amazing how therapeutic that is to the soul. With that in mind, some of the links today will reflect the journey we’ve been on recently.
Now on to the content!
⚕️The Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN)
Pretty much as long as I can remember, I’ve heard that the Mayo Clinic is the best at what they do. Fortunately, we’ve never had to ‘see for ourselves’. Well, in case there were any disputes, we can confirm - they are the best at what they do.
From the minute we got the referral, we were treated to world-class service. From the complimentary travel concierge service to the bedside manner of the nurses and doctors, to the exceptional skill of those operating - Mayo Clinic is the best at what they do. We can’t recommend them enough.
📸 World Nature Photography Awards
Stunning photography by some of the best photographers in the world. Definitely worth your time!
🤔 What I Wish I Knew About Work When I Was Younger
Remember those days where there was always someone you worked with that was proud of never taking a sick day? Well, times have changed and this article is filled with so much current, relevant wisdom. The article is from fatherly.com, but the wisdom is not specific to fathers. I particularly enjoyed the first tip regarding, “The Sky Is Probably Not Falling”.
📵 More People Have Mobile Phones Than Toilets
“A stunning little statistic from a United Nations report. More people now have mobile telephones around the world than have access to a flush toilet. Given that the water closet is several centuries old and the mobile phone really only about 30 years mature that's a pretty stunning difference in the two technologies adoption.”
👩💻 Useful website: Free Online Photo Editor In Your Browser
This site is pretty slick. Granted, it doesn’t have all the functionality of Adobe Photoshop, but I’ve used it a couple times recently and found it very helpful. It’s got all the usual instagram-style editing features/filters, plus a couple more. Plus, it doesn’t have the pricetag of Photoshop, so that’s nice!
Words to wrap up:
Frodo: “I wish it need not have happened in my time.”
Gandalf: “So do I, and so do all who live it see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
- The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien
