š¤ 10 Rules for Public Speaking
This is a fascinating, practical, article full of solid advice on public speaking. Having said that, I canāt say that I agree with all 10 tips. For example, #2 - Invade the Audienceās Space - I understand the sentiment behind the tip, however thereās solid advice out there that states this can be intimidating to audience members. Itās the equivalent of talking too close to someone.
However, there are some tips I wholeheartedly agree with. For example, #7 - Tap Into Your Own Craziness - I really like the idea here. Thereās a danger in public speaking that we all become carbon copies of one another. I like the tip here to be you, in all your glory.
Iām curious what tips you all find useful!
š 10 Ways to Slow Down and Still Get Things Done
Funny! I didnāt realize this was going to be the ā10 thingsā edition of F3, but here we are!
I had an epiphany a couple weeks ago that my schedule was out of control. Very much a ātail walking the dogā type of situation. I felt like I was doing a lot, but the task list wasnāt shrinking. So, I decided to do something about it. Using the wisdom in this article as well as the book, āAt Your Bestā by Carey Nieuwhof (which I see is on sale for $4.99!), I redesigned my schedule. After 3 weeks on the new schedule, I feel way more productive. Note - nothing about my workload changed, but I allowed myself some time to be intentional and productive, which made a huge difference. If youāre curious about the specifics, shoot me a message.
š“ Pay-Per-Chew? More restaurants trying subscription programs
āConsumers are willing to pay monthly subscription fees for streaming services, pet food and even toilet paper. And now some restaurants are betting theyāll do the same for their favorite meals.ā
With the average American juggling 6.7 subscriptions in 2022, it looks like restaurants are hopping on the subscription model as well. I heard about Subway trying this out a year ago. Thereās also mention in the article about several other mainstream restaurants giving it a go. Iām not sure that I would pay a monthly subscription for free cheese dip, but itās interesting to think about.
š„« Costcoās success in breaking every rule of retail
I havenāt thought about the way Costco operates their stores, until I read this article. Very interesting.
š©āš» Stories from 25 Years of Netflix
Iām enjoying this Twitter thread so far, chronicling 25 years of Netflix as it contains gems like this:
āIt turns out that thereās nothing like having the option to get out that reinforces your desire to stay in.ā
This reminded me of a book I have on my list to read, āNo Rules Rules: Netflix and the Culture of Reinventionā
Words to wrap up:
āBelieve you can, and youāre halfway there.ā
