The Power of Micro-Habits
This week, I was thinking that in the world of personal development and leadership, we often hear about the importance of setting ambitious goals and taking bold moves. While there is certainly something to be said for that, what if the real secret to lasting change lies not in grand gestures, but in the tiny, almost invisible actions we take every day? Micro-habits, if you will.
Micro-habits are small, easy-to-implement behaviors that, when repeated consistently, can lead to significant improvements over time. Unlike major resolutions that often fizzle out, micro-habits are sustainable because they require minimal effort and willpower to maintain.
Here are a few micro-habits I’ve implemented this year. Hopefully, these will inspire you to start your own!
Write down one thing you’re grateful for every day.
Before going into a meeting, set your intention of how you want to present yourself. (I’ve been reciting, “Bring the joy”).
Give someone a specific “thank you” every day.
Spend five minutes planning your top priority for tomorrow.
What’s one micro-habit you can commit to for the next week?
The Journey to a $10 Million Business
This is a pretty fascinating article that details the steps this entrepreneur took to build a $10 million business from scratch.
Force ChatGPT To Think 10x Deeper
This article contains five prompts that go beyond the surface-level results with AI. I’ve been experimenting with a couple of them this week, and I can tell the quality of results has improved.
7 Personal Growth Challenges
This is quite the list, some more extreme than others. There are some great ideas here; I’m particularly interested in:
21-Day No-Complaint Experiment: This challenge involves not complaining, criticizing, or gossiping for 21 consecutive days.
Tech-Free Day: Take a ‘screen sabbatical’ one day every week. Avoid using digital devices.
Morning Pages (Daily Journaling): Inspired by Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way. It involves writing three pages of stream-of-consciousness thoughts every morning. You’ll declutter your thinking and generate creative ideas.
One minute you're young, the next using a 'good pen' at work brings you joy. 😆
